This is a response on the attacks of a certain aka “Jonah prophet” about Mary, our Mother. I have italicized every attack Jonah has done and my response are in normal text. No quotation I made from aka “Jonah” have been modified.
Galing kay “Jonah”:
“Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.” Pg. 252, #969
Aba, kadami palang titulo ni Maria ano??
The belief that Mary is an advocate before the Father is yet another man-made tradition, not supported by Scripture. Moreover, the Bible defies Catholic doctrine by declaring that Jesus, not Mary, is the only Advocate:
“…if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:” 1 John 2:1
Ayan … sino raw advocate..??? Inagawan ng titulo ni Maria si Jesus..
The title that signifies to Mary does not in any way degrade the value of Christ as the one and only Advocate, nor does she steal any of Christ’s title as being the only One. Instead, it lifts Christ all the more as being the one and only Advocate, one and only mediator, one and only benefactor and helper. Just as we know that we only have one Priest, and that is our Lord Jesus Christ, yet we have priests and pastors spread all over the world who continue to spread the Good News in which Christ Himself started doing.
Just as we have only one Father, yet we have fathers, biological, religious, and even by profession that reflects upon the one and only Father that we have.
Just as your church members ask you to pray for them, or your pastors to pray for you, you in turn have made them your advocates to help you be a better Christian in their prayers. Now, Mary, being the Mother of God is but the perfect creature closest to Jesus Himself whom we can call out. And not a single verse from the bible ever disproves that we are not supposed to treat her such. Instead, the bible shows abundant evidences as to how Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the Father treated her apart from any ordinary human being on earth.
Galing Kay “Jonah”:
Once again, the Bible disagrees with Catholicism by declaring that Jesus, not Mary, is the only supernatural Helper:
“Behold, God is mine helper…” Psalm 54:4
…”So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” Hebrews 13:6
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19
Wala ni isang salita ang Biblia na si Maria any HELPER.. Inagawan ninyo uli ng titulo si Jesus Christ.. Grrrr!!!
Jonah said, “the bible disagrees with Catholicism…”, Tell me if I am getting cross-eyed, but which verse did it show that it disagrees on Mary as a Helper ? I couldn’t see one. Besides, the Catholic Church never taught that Mary is the ONLY (as mentioned by Jonah Prophet) Helper. Yes, every verse dropped by Jonah above is true. All of those verses are believed by the Catholic Church by heart (honestly, I love those verses), and secondly, the verses really never shows anything in disagreement to Mary being any of the titles mentioned above.
Not a single quoted verse that he brought above ever went against Mary being a Helper of God. In fact, we are all helpers of God. If Jonah declares that we can’t be helper, then he should stop doing debates right now because he is helping God clear up things and that will be unbiblical if based on Jonah’s conclusion.
What is bad about having Mary as Helper? Granting the thought that when at a Marriage banquet, the servants went to Mary and told her that there is no more wine, and Mary turned to her Son, Jesus. Now Mary there is being a Helper to Jesus Himself. Just by becoming the mother of the Savior himself makes her the Helper of the world.
Wala ni isa sa mga ibinitaw ni Jonah Prophet na verse ang nagsasabing hindi pwede si Maria na maging isang Helper para sa Diyos alang-ala sa ating lahat.. Grrrr!!! din. Hehe.
Galing Kay “Jonah”:
Here is another tradition of men. The Bible calls no one, including Mary, a “benefactress.” … IMBENTO LANG YAN!!!
Ano ba ang benefactress Jonah? Baka hindi mo pa alam ibig sabihin niyan. To be a benefactor or benefactress means a person willing to help others. If Mary is never a benefactress, then what kind of a Christian is she? Yes, the bible was silent about her helping others, but by simply knowing what she did in obedience to God made her the benefactress for mankind. Since she have come to help us, by allowing God to have her as the Mother of the Savior of the world is but the greatest help we could ever see that she has done. A true benefactor indeed. Kung imbento lang yan, eh mukhang ikaw pala ang di nakakakita ng big picture about the Bible’s message and abundance. You just see a verse and say “Hey, that’s it, doesn’t mean anything else.” That is just a sign of narrow mindedness and short sightedness. Just wants to see what he wants to see.
Galing kay “Jonah”
The function of both a mediator and an advocate is to intercede on behalf of others. Catholic tradition assigns this position to Mary, whereas God’s Word exalts the Lord Jesus Christ as the only intercessor:
“For Christ is not ent…ered into the holy places made with hands… but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:” Hebrews 9:24
“Wherefore he (Jesus) is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25
Scripture could not be any plainer about the identity of the true intercessor:
“… It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” Romans 8:34
“… he (Jesus) maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:27
The Bible reveals that anyone who reaches the Father must go through Jesus Christ:
“For through him (Jesus) we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.” Ephesians 2:18
“According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access…” Ephesians 3:11-12
Mary is never mentioned as an intercessor.
Yes, the bible is silent about Mary as an intercessor, and so are you Jonah, you intercede for your fellow Christians yet the bible never mentions that you must do so. However, if you say yes, it is in the bible (because it is really in the bible for us to pray for each other), then what is your problem with Mary being one? Common sense and common logic. Sabi ko nga, not all are written within the pages of the scriptures. Because the Word of God is not only the WRITTEN WORD of God.
In the book of Revelations, we see angels and saints praying for man day and night without ending. This are intercessions from our departed brothers and sisters who are now in heaven together with all the angels on our behalf. If such intercessions occur with the saints in heaven, how much more will it be with the very Mother of our Lord?
Ano ba talaga kuya??
Tama si “aka” Rodion Suarez. Why? Because the Church offers prayers in behalf of mankind just as the angels, saints, and Mary who are in heaven. And just like you, an intercessor who intercedes on behalf of your Christian brothers and sisters as well. Kaya huwag ka maguluhan. Common Sense lang gamitin mo kaibigan. And we, being intercessors for one another does not, in any way, discredit Christ, as the one and only Intercessor.
Galing kay Jonah:
Now you know the positions of both the Bible and Catholic tradition. Will you reject the Word of God and give glory to Mary? Or will you reject the traditions of men and give glory to Jesus Christ?
“But now hath he (Jesus) obtained a more ex…cellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.” Hebrews 8:6
Amen Jonah! As you can now see, the Catholic Church have showed you, that even if it is not within the pages of the bible, it’s actions and teachings are very biblical and pictures biblical message. And by the way, you have not singled out a verse that says Mary shouldn’t be any of which the Catholic Church claims her to be.
Simply said, Mary is given the rightful place as being blessed by the Church, as she herself prophesied when she said, “All generations shall call me blessed.” Mary is given importance since Jesus himself entrusted Mary to us when he said to John, the apostle, the member of Christ’s Church, “Son, BEHOLD thy MOTHER”.
I do not know about the Word of God according to you since you put a yard stick and concluded “hey, that’s the Word of God.” Now, I return the question to you, Will you reject the Word of God just because you want to step under your foot the Mother of Jesus Christ to whom He Himself lifted up above any other?
For who among us will be happy when our own mother who took care of us will just be vilified unjustly? For the glory of Christ illuminates further because He has shared His own mother to be our mother, and you have rejected Christ on that, therefore, the Catholic Church and her devotion to the Mother of Christ makes the Church more biblical than you can think of, and your position on the other hand becomes very unbiblical, and not just unbiblical, but against the Word of God, both written and unwritten.
