PALM SUNDAY: Random Thoughts – IRONY OF DESTRUCTION BECAUSE OF DOING “RIGHT AND GOOD…”
After 2000 years, not much have changed… There are still people who are angry when they see others doing good; in fact there are still those who would not want others to be good at all; The gossipers and character assassins are still having a field-day instigating and casting doubts against those they want to ‘cut to their level of mud-wallowing; and worst, there are those willing to kill to ‘cover up ‘their evil and failures…
Let’s focus and reflect on these realities, this time.
When people starts to believe the wrong that they think of and do, as “GOOD,” then even the ‘good’ is used for evil. Ordinarily, we view and judge the events of the first Palm Sunday, as the betrayal of Judas who sold our master; the change of heart of the people who acclaimed His entrance into Jerusalem and at the end asked for His Crucifixion. These are also true…
But the other side of the picture are the ‘Authorities, the Experts of the Law, the Religious Leaders of those times’ who believe that they have a rightful cause to protect their nation and their people from ‘THE MAN JESUS and HIS FOLLOWERS!’
On face value, we could even say, for the benefit of the doubt, that they are just fulfilling their responsibility… But on closer look, we have to notice where their judgement and protective spirit are based and coming from… the VERY REASON THEY MADE THEIR DECISION TO CRUCIFY HIM!
Here, everything goes wrong. They saw Jesus healing the sick; casting out devils; raising the dead to life; feeding the hungry; calling the sinners to conversion; they also heard Him preaching hope, peace and the Good News of salvation; inviting people to follow Him and etc…. FOR THESE GOOD, HE HAD TO SUFFER AND DIE.
And that was not all. They also asked those to whom all these goodness done to, to join them ask for His Blood and they did shout crucify Him!!! They know the power of the mob and they used it to destroy rather than to protect and build — and the ‘GOOD’ had to die.
Judas says: “What a waste?” and he referred to the perfume. I AM PRAYING THAT WE SAY IT MORE FOR GOOD PEOPLE WE DESTROY. BUT THEN AND AGAIN, I ALSO ASK THE LORD TO MAKE US MORE AND STILL BE CAPABLE TO SEE WHAT IS GOOD IN OTHERS; AND THIS PALM SUNDAY, MAY THE LORD OPEN OUR EYES TO THIS REALITY OF GOODNESS, HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR!
