A good reminder of God’s Love and Truth
Every Sunday afternoon, after the morning service at the church, the Pastor and his eleven year old son would go out into their town and hand out Gospel Tracts.
This particular Sunday afternoon, as it came time for the Pastor and his son to walk the streets with their tracts, it was very cold outside, as well as pouring down rain. The
boy bundled up in his warmest and driest clothes and said, “OK, Dad, I’m ready.”
His Pastor dad asked, “Ready for what?”
“Dad, it’s time we gather our tracts together and go out.” Dad responds, “Son, it’s very cold
outside and it’s pouring down rain.”
The boy gives his dad a surprised look, asking, “But Dad, aren’t people still going to
Hell, even though it’s raining?”
Dad answers, “Son, I am not going out in this weather.” Despondently, the boy asks,
“Dad, can I go? Please?”
His father hesitated for a moment then said, “Son, you can go. Here are the tracts, be careful son.”
And with that, he was off and out into the rain. This eleven year old boy walked the streets of the town going door to door and handing to everybody he met in the street a Gospel Tract.
After two hours of walking in the rain, he was soaking, bone-chilled wet and down to his VERY LAST TRACT. He stopped at a corner and looked for someone to hand a tract to, but the streets were totally deserted.
Then he turned toward the first home he saw and started up the sidewalk to the front door and rang the door bell. He rang the bell, but nobody answered. He rang it again and again, but still no one answered. He waited but still no answer.
Finally, this eleven year old trooper turned to leave, but something stopped him. Again, he turned to the door and rang the bell and knocked loudly on the door with his fist. He waited, something holding him there on the front porch! He rang again and this time the door slowly opened. Standing in the doorway was a very sad-looking elderly lady. She looks resplendent but sad and She softly asked, “What can I do for you, son?” With radiant eyes and a smile, this little boy said,
“Ma’am, I’m sorry if I disturbed you, but I just want to tell you that *JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU* and I came to give you my very last Gospel Tract which will tell you all about JESUS and His great LOVE.”
With that, he handed her his last tract and turned to leave. She called to him as he departed. “Wait a minute son!”. I know Jesus loves me for I am His mother. The boy was
awestruck, he asked. Ma’am if you were Jesus’ mother why do you look so sad? You should be glad and happy to have Jesus as a Son. She replied, son it is because it grieves me so much to know a lot of people serving in my Son’s name but they do not really know Him.
The boy smiled and proudly said, I know Jesus, He is my Lord and Savior!
The woman replied, My Son is everyone’s Lord and Savior yet a lot do not know Him. The boy scratched his head and declared, I know Jesus more than anyone else for He had saved me when I accepted Him as Lord and Savior. The boy gave a big smile.
The woman said, many accepts my Son but they do not really know Him. The boy was bothered, he grinned and asked. Ma’am do you know how to know Jesus more? She replied, of course my dear, I took care of Him. I bathed Him, I told Him stories, I thought Him about God, I know His desires and I know even His very scent for He is flesh of my flesh. The boy asked again, so Ma’am do you know how to know Jesus more?
Finally, the woman said; believe and follow me and I will tell more about my Son…
Well, the following Sunday morning in church Pastor Dad was in the pulpit. As the service began, he asked, “Does anybody have any testimony or want to say anything?”
His son cheerfully raised his hand. The pastor was so proud that he clapped while telling him to, “come testify for the Lord’s glory my son”.
Then the boy opened up, I have met Jesus’ mother and she showed me the way to her Son. Salvation is harder than I have always thought. For that, I am ready to bear my cross and follow Him so that I maybe saved and have eternal life. To know Jesus more we must know His mother for there are so many churches out there presenting their own view of Jesus. And only His mother can be certain to know who the real Jesus is… THERE WAS TOTAL SILENCE…
After a year even with the disapproval of his Pastor dad. He received his first communion…
